Win Utility Problems

Posted: 07-30-2003, 04:04 AM
Although everything else runs properly, I'm having problems with
certain Windows utilities.

Defrag works perfectly; Regedit opens momentarily and then closes;
andMsconfig will not open at all.

I've defragged; scanned for viruses using an up-to-date Norton AV, and
have run a couple of "restores" to earlier dates, all to no avail.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks, Dick

Try System File Checker. Start>Run type: sfc /scannow Have your
WinXP CD in the drive.

Nope---SFC runs, but not properly, and occasionally looks for files on
a Service Pack 1 CD.

Any other thoughts?
