X-post to Vista Installation_Setup newsgroup.

You can transfer most of your data and settings to the new machine but not
the applications, Jud.

Actually Microsoft has a "Beta" program called "Windows Easy
Transfer Companion". According to it's Quick Details it indicates
a possible transfer of ~100 "Popular(?)" programs from an XP
machine to Vista.

Can't speak to it's effectiveness, But I would be interested to know
which applications it supports:
