I downloaded windows7 and it took about 2 hours.
Friend of mine wants to try it but doesn't have
a real high speed connect (low end dsl). I was wondering
if he could use my copy and product key.
TIA

simple answer, yes.
they only issued 5 product keys for each version and distribution was not
restricted.
burn him a copy and give him the key.

It would be best if he registered and was issued with his own key. He does
not have to download the iso.You can burn him a copy of your DVD.

No, it's a general group:

Now, if it was microsoft.public.windows.vista.support, you would have a
point.

You really don't get it do you?
The question from the original poster was precisely a Windows 7 question NOT
a Windows VISTA one however general you wish to spread the definition.
So was clearly posted to the wrong group.
If the OP posts to the correct group he will find other people who are also
dealing with Windows 7 and the Microsoft staff that participate there can
also see the comments and feedback etc.
(and no one wants to hear you whine about it being web based or requiring a
login - you have done that already.)

The OP got the right answer to his question so it was the right group.

Yes he can. The DVD would be the same if he downloaded and burned his
own, and there are only about 10 product keys being issued so that's not
a problem either. I did the same for a friend of mine and we are both
running just fine.
