| I have Windows XP Home Edition on my HP pavilion laptop. Windows appears to go though its normal boot process however right before it would normal complete and let you in it stops at a BLUE screen which has just a MicroSoft Windows logo on it (appears like the final screen on a shut down for me actually).. None of the safe modes will boot either (it always boots to the same blue screen).. The mouse is responsive as are the laptop function keys.. otherwise it appears dead. CTL- ALT-DEL does nothing.. However I can hear the harddive spin up like its loading my normal BOOT up stuff.. I just recently downloaded all of the most recent patches for my XP home edition..( because it crashed exactly like this before and I had went a reinstall route) unfortuantly HP gave me cruddy restore disks and not a real XP disk (so I don't have alot of recovery tools) Using an NTFS reader from a dos bootup I see all of my stuff is still on the harddive (so that didn't crash).. it almost appears like its in standby or sleeping very wierd (Thus if wanted I could give the safemode boot log as I can get stuff off the drive) Any ideas of what to try.. | Guest
