Thank you, I just went to find it and can not locate it in the unistall part.
I also couldn't see where on it's page to turn it off. Do you know where I
can find it?
I also have McAfee security center but that doesn't seem to work well. I
think I bought it through Dell when I bought the computer and I have it for 3
yrs. Someone else set everything up for me and I just don't feel like paying
them again to come out and fix this stuff.

Don't uninstall it -- merely disable it. Do it under Control Panel --
Windows Security Center -- Malware Protection.

Follow up -- Uninstall McAfee. It's intrusive bloatware that, per reports
here, interferes with a lot of things. AVG and Spysweeper will do the same
functions, but a lot better, a lot less intrusively, and much more
efficiently.

Whenever I change homepages, Windows Defender wants me to Permit or Deny the change. Aren't there supposed to be other options like Always Allow? How do I permanently allow Internet Explorer to change the home page?

Hi Mark,

You can't. Windows Defender was designed to notify you of any chang
made to the startups. You can make some adjustments in Defender's TOOL
> OPTIONS (Under Real Time Protection) in Control Panel for what it wil
or will not notify you for.

Hope this helps,
Shaw

D'Oh! I didn't realize there was a whole SLEW of options if only I had
scrolled down! <smacks forehead with palm of hand>. I really need to be
more observant!

On doing a quick Google it appears that the problem requires the renaming of
the softwaredistribution folder. Very similar to error code 0x80240029:

I suggest you take a look at this link and follow the instructions to see if
that helps:
