Default Windows Defender Beta 2

Hi..........I'm new to this game so not sure if I am writing to correct
Group.
If I'm not, will someone put me right please.

Anyway.............have just downloaded Defender from MS site. No problems
with that, but I am not sure whether it automatically opens up on Startup
because no icon appears in my systems tray. Up 'til now I have manually
opened it up by going through Start/All programs, etc. but common sense
tells me surely it must commence running at Startup? When I try Task Manager
(before manual opening) there is no sign of Defender running.

Can anyone advise me please?

Thanks, Ian

Hello,

Yes I do believe that Windows Defender starts up when you start your
computer although task manager might not show it. You can check (or disable)
this by Start > Run > type in msconfig > Services tab. If you don't want
windows defender to start just uncheck 'Windows Defender Service' in the
list that is shown and restart your computer. Along with this windows
defender also runs autumatically at a scheduled time that is set. You can
change this as well by opening windows defender > Tools > General Settings.

In the current build, in Windows Defender's options, there is an option to
have the icon show up in the tray all the time.

I'm not very computer literate but I updated to the WD Beta 2 and it scans
when I do it manually. I also set it up for auto scans but it does not work.
I have all the updates. Is this common? If so is there a way to fix it.
