Windows Explorer - applic crash

Posted: 10-18-2003, 08:44 PM
When attempting to read/display a photo folder Explorer
crashes with a 'must close' message (error report to M/S
etc).
The only clue I have is that the possible file causing
the problem has a name length of 67 characters - it's the
longest name I've used. I reloaded (I think, it was not
very clear from the on-screen display just what was done)
using the 'spc /scannow' (? not sure if that's the right
name) option per the Knowledgebase advice.
It worked once, and then fell over again.
I'm using XP Professional (an upgrade load over ME) with
SP1 and have downloaded all 'critical' patches.
Graphics applics access the file ok.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Do you happen to have Adobe PhotoShop or
Elements installed?

If you do...right click on a .jpg file and choose
Properties. Click the Photoshop Image tab
and uncheck the "Generate Thumbnails" button,
then click OK.

Can you right-click the folder and re-name it? What is the error? Does it work okay
in safe mode? Might be your video driver.
