windows explorer crash

when i try to access a folder in my network connections, explorer crashes
and sends an error report.

i have seen the two issues on the ms knowledge base (i.e canon printer and
certain software problems) but none of these scenarios apply to me. i am
running windows xp service pack one with all available updates installed.

my network consists of only two computers connected via ethernet and sharing
only the internet connection and 'shared' folders.

explorer did not crash before i set up and tried to access the network
folders.

thank you.

Windows Explorer Crash

I log onto Windows XP Home Edition and start a few pograms
and it never fails for an error message to pop up that
says that the Windows Explorer has messed up some how, and
it wants me to send an error report. Well i have sent
countless error reports and i was wonderin if anyone else
was having this problem.

After i choose whether to send or not to send the error
report, the explorer task bar goes blank, then reloads
again. After this it is usually fine for a while, but
eventually it crashes agin and it is getting on my
nerves. If anyone knows a solution or fix to this problem
please help out. thank you.

Frank,
Here is a post I just made. Does this sound like the
problem you are having?
My windows explorer has lost functionality. If I attempt
to rename a file or use any of the functions under File
or Edit on the tool bar it closes down. I have
reinstalled XP and that did not help. Any ideas??

I have explorer problems too, often it sends an error report to
Microsoft, but often it just closes down and re-starts. Some of my
folders are out-of-bounds now; I can't get files out of them any more
except by using other software! Same problem with you?

Hi Frank & Daha,
Same here (3 lines down - scannow). They told me to use
scannow but if you've done the full SP1 updates, it asks
for your SP1 CD - which doesn't exist.
Hopefully, an MVP will give us an answer.
I'm going to give it another day, then I'll hit them with
it again.
