Windows Explorer has encountered a problem?

I would like to run a search for certain files on my computer:
start/search/all files&folders. Every time I attempt this, I get this error
message after about 30 seconds: "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem
and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience". It also gives you
the opportunity to send info to Microsoft. I have a Dell PIII 700 PC. I am
running Windows XP home edition which I bought as an upgrade to Win98. I
have tried reloading XP, and I am current on all of the Microsoft updates.
Any ideas?

Any clues in the event viewer??
