Windows Explorer has stopped working

Well today I just upgraded to windows vista home premium from windows xp and
the first thing i get from when vista started is a pop up saying "windows
explorer has stopped working." It gives me two options of restarting or
checking online for solution then restarting windows explorer. I have tried
both outcomes multiple times. This would not be a big deal if i could go on
and do my thing but it has not let me do anything(except mozzila
firefox[somehow]) and it keeps popping up. I do not know what to do and i
need help please and thank you.

Windows explorer has stopped working

I downloaded a plugin to watch a video. Consequently a spyware or malware or
virus appeared. I tried to uninstall it when my computer told me I need to
reboot. I did so and the windows explorer has stopped working is restarting
cycle began. How can I fix without using windows? It won't let me access
windows firewall or control panel or any such things. Only programs such as
firefox and mcafee work.

Try booting to Safe Mode and removing it that way.

Windows Explorer Has Stopped Working

Help!

I've seen many posts on this around the net in various forums and no one has
an answer.

When I go to view certian directories on my hard drives via Windows
Explorer, I get the message "Windows Explorer Has Stopped Working" and it
will try to restart it but it doesn't...so, I am left with only going to Safe
Mode to view the files...

I've done System Restore, Virus and Spyware scans and just about everything
next to reloading Vista...does ANYONE have a solution to this issue that I
and many people are having?

Many times the "Windows Explorer Has Stopped Working" error, especially when
browsing folders, is due to a 3rd party entry added to the right-click
context menu of Windows Explorer, and it isn't working out too well,
registry-wise. If you have a program that has added a choice in the menu,
check the program's Options dialog to see if the shell extension can be
turned off. If not, uninstall the program. Or ask for help on how to find
the particular entry in the registry, so that you can delete it. The next
time the error happens, look at the details of the message, and that may
help you figure out the program causing the problem.
