Windows Explorer, Views, Details, number of pages per document

What do I need to do to activate a display that shows the actual number of pages. I tried the Views, Details, and selected pages, but the results display that each of my documents only have 1 page? Is there an easier way to determine the actual number of printable pages a file contains without opening the individual files?
