Windows File Protection

Posted: 07-11-2003, 10:24 PM
I am constantly recieving the error message that a system
file needs to be replaced and to insert the windows XP
setup CD. This does not resolve the problem as the message
keeps popping up. I end up having to cancel the file
replacement and click on OK to use the Non Windows based
file.
Is there a way to turn off Windows File Protection? Or how
can I resolve this issue.

Go to www.google.com and search for "windows file protection disable", and
follow the instructions of the first link.

BTW, it is NOT a good idea to turn off Windows File Protection. Among other
things, it prevents a virus from over writing critical Windows files.

On 3 computers, aftert isntalling a new program the
folliwng message occurs:

WINODWS FILE PROTECTION
Files that are required for Windows to run properply have
been replaced by unrecognized versions. To maintain
system reliability, Windows must restore the orignal
versions of these files.

Insert your Windows XP Professional cd-rom now.

Upon doing so the XP menu appears. What is the enxt step
without reloading the entire computering?
Please advise if possible.

Hi,
I keep getting this warning as follows:
"Windows File Protection

Files that are required for Windows to run properly have
been
replaced by unrecognized versions. To maintain system
stability,
Windows must restore the original versions of these files.

Insert your Windows XP Professional CD-ROM now."

I would like to know how to fix this problem if possible.
- Thank you

Place the Win XP CD in the CD drive.
When Autoplay starts just click the X and close it.
Click Start button, select Run and type in "sfc /scannow" without the quotes
and the system should scan for missing/corrupt MS OS files and replace them
with the originals found on the disk.

Scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with
correct Microsoft versions.

>it means you have a virus or third party software which
is replacing needed windows files with its own version.

scan for viruses and/or remove the offending third party
software.

I have been getting the following message:

Windows File Protection

Files that are required for Windows to run properly
have been replaced by unrecognized versions. To maintain
system stability, Windows must restore the original
versions of these files.

Insert your Windows XP Home Edition Service pack 1 CD
now.

Retry More Information Cancel

Can the original files be restored without reloading
the entire Windows XP program? If so, how do I do it?
