I just "upgraded" to Vista Home Premium and every time I open a new
program or click on something (even the volume control) the Windows
Installer pops-up and delays the startup of the program. As suggested
by Microsoft help, I tried MSIexec. Upon restart I Windows Explorer
would shut down and thus I would get a blank screen. I had to manually
restart Windows Explorer by calling the task manager and calling it
from the Windows folder.
The problem persisted, though. I then tried msconfig to startup only
Microsoft software (no antivirus, Skype or anything else). This did not
help either.
I noticed that reviewing the screen properties it showed two monitors,
though I only have one. I reverted my graphics card (GeForce FX5500)
driver from the Microsoft provided one to the Nvidia driver. I tried to
install the new driver but I got a message that the new driver was for
Windows Vista and that it did not detect Windows Vista on the PC!!!!
(Yes, I AM running Windows Vista, I can tell the difference...)
Windows Installer keeps poping-up and I am extremely frustrated. Any
suggestions?
