Windows license product key

Posted: 07-15-2003, 12:07 PM
ok people... anyone hav any idea why i cannot register
windows? my PC came from a friend, who installed his copy
of windows, while i was awaiting my own license to be
processed. ok so i click register (activate really i
guess) and it says that product key has been used, then
says to type in a new one.

ok thats fair enough. i type in my brand new one from
eopen.microsoft.com (44 x Windows XP Pro licenses) and it
claims 'invalid product key'.

this is a brand new (set of) lisence(s) and i dont see
why it would claim the number is invalid. i have the
eopen page open right now, i printed the lisence key from
there... is there a chance that they put the number wrong
on there? i really hope not as that is embarassing for
all involved, especially microsoft.

any feedback / help appreciated

i have no media pack, i got only lisences because i
already have a windows XP Pro CD so i saw no reason
paying out the extra to get CDs too

so is there no way i can update this? i need to activate
my windows in 3 days now, as it took a while for the
lisences to come in. if i talked to a microsoft person
over the phone would there be a solution or would i be
wasting my time?

IChris,

If you purchased Volume Licenses then you require Volume License media.
I assume since you bought 44 you did buy this as a Volume Licensed purchase
on Select or Open etc ?
If so you require the correct Volume Licensed media.

There is no solution other then using the correct media for your key type.
(in this case VL media)
