Windows Mail GPO

This policy setting does not work for me:

"User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows
Mail\Turn off Windows Mail Application" = enabled.

Windows Mail still opens.

Similar setting for Movie Maker works just fine.

Can someone confirm this?

And the reason is ...

WinMail searches for HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows
Mail\ManualLaunchAllowed, but never seems to search for
HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Mail\ManualLaunchAllowed.

Similarly, DisableUserCommunities seems to only apply to the machine, not to
the user.

[Troubleshooting tips - I used ProcessMonitor from SysInternals to get the
details of what registry values were, and weren't being used, and I vgrepped
my way through C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions\WindowsMail.admx to see what
registry values the policy setting enabled or disabled.]
