Windows Media Player and Sound Recorder

I am trying to play an mp3 file on windows media player
and want it to record on my sound recorder but the only
sound I pick up on my sound recorder is through my
microphone. I have went into the properties for sound and
under recording properties I can't get Wave/Mp3 controls
to pick up. Please Help!!!! Thanks for your time

Says right in the help file:

"to record sounds your computer must be equipped with a
microphone" which tells me you cant record from anything
else. If perchance you have a soundblaster audigy
soundcard, you can use creative recorder to do what you
want. Also note that anything recorded with windows sound
recorder is limited to 60 seconds, kind of bizarre.

For those using the Sound Recoder to create a *.wav file,
sometimes the Windows Media Player will not play the
sound if you simply open the file and hit play.

It should work OK, if you drag the *.wav file to the
Windows Media Player.
