Windows Media Player Failure

I have windows media player 9, but now I cannot do
anything with it,

It will NOT search for my MP3's, or play MPEG or AVI
file's.

I have unloaded and cleared out the registry, re-booted
and re-loaded it but it is still doing the same thing.

Does any one have any idea's as to how to correct this.
