Windows Media Player Procedure Entry Point not Located?

i just used XP's automatic update to update stuff on my
PC. but now, after downloading Media Player 9 series,
whenever i try to open Media Player, a window appears
that says "the procedure entry point GetIUMS could not be
located in teh dynamic link library MSDART.DLL"

this annoying error won't leave my screen no matter how
many times i click "ok" or the "x". can anyone help me,
as microsoft's own tech support is rather lack-luster.

Download and install msdart.dll over the old one. You can get it from here :

http://www.dll-files.com/
