windows messenger crashes

My windows messenger suddenly crashes in the midst of a chat.I am using the
typing function of messenger.I have sent quite a few error reports to
microsoft and have followed their advice to upgrade the messenger program,
but it still crashes.I am running Windows XP home edition.HP a300n
computer.2.6 ghz, 256 mb sdram.Any help would be appreciated.

Try MSN messenger, it is updated all the time and is more stable.
