Windows Messenger tries to send e-mail address at Windows startup

Posted: 10-28-2003, 06:54 AM
Occasionally at Windows XP booting, my firewall (Norton
Internet Security) gives me a warning that there is an
attempt to send my e-mail address
to "messenger@hotmail.com". Is this Windows attempting to
get update download info? It does not seem to be a proper
way. A virus scan and spyware scan do not find anything.
I also get this during Internet use. Sometimes it
displays only an IP address.
