Windows Mobile Device

Posted: 02-13-2007, 08:40 AM
Hi there. I set up my IPAQ to synchronise Outlook Calendar, Mail, Address
Book and Tasks and it worked on a number of occassions. Then suddenly it
stopped and now Vista thinks that my IPAQ is a 'File Store' (that's the
description it gives in thepartnership screen) and the only thing I can do is
load media files onto the IPAQ, no opportunity to synchronise with Outlook
anymore.

Do you have the final release version of Windows Mobile Device Center
(replaces ActiveSync in Vista) installed? Have you tried deleting and
re-creating the partnership between the device and your computer?

Hi Richard, I thought I had the final release of Windows Mobile Device
Center, and I kept checking for updates, and today I did find one which has
fixed the problem. (I had tried deleting and re-creating in the past but was
absolutely unable to delete the partnership). Anyway, looks like problem
solved with the last windows update. Thanks!

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
(32 bit)

(64-bit)

Uninstall any prior beta versions before installing the final version.
Disconnect your device before installing the final version. Reboot after
installing the final version. While rebooting, remove existing partnerships
from your device, then plug it in after the computer reboots.

All of the above may not be necessary but I've found it to be the best
advice to get a pain-free install and set-up.

Hi Richard,

I have the same problem back again. And I figured I didn't want to have to
re-install all of Vista again to overcome the problem.

I checked your other response and tried re-installing the driver bu still
get the same problem, which is when I click on "setup your device" I get the
error "There is a problem with your connection. Please disconnect and
reconnect your device and try again". I have disconnected and re-set my
device but have had no luck.

When I go to sync centre I see 3 devices set up (I only have the one device
though) that shows Guest, CF Card and IPAQ file store. I can't delete any of
these and I can't set them up for synchronisation with outlook. I CAN
transfer files, if that was all I wanted to do.

Can you help?

Thanks again,
Sandy
