Windows PE Licencing for XPe Licenced products

Posted: 02-23-2007, 09:00 AM
Hi, I have a licensing question, regarding Windows PE. I have searched the
Microsoft site, and am now more confused than before I started, I am someone
here may be able to advise, or point me in the direction of someone who can...

I work for a company that has an OEM agreement with Microsoft, and uses
Microsoft Embedded XP on the products we manufacture. I believe that
machines licensed to use Embedded XP, also allow us to use Windows PE, as PE
is provided on the 1st CD. but I need confirmation that this is the case. If
I can describe our intended use scenario, perhaps someone can advise if we
are indeed covered to use Windows PE in this manner.

We have a business requirement to provide a diagnostics CDROM for our
Embedded XP based products, which bypasses the potentially faulty Embedded XP
installation on the Harddrive, and provides an independent diagnostics suite
which we are planning on developing. Not all products will use this
diagnostics CD, only faulty machines in the field, visited by our field
service engineers.

Does our Windows Embedded XP licence cover us for using WindowsPE on these
products for servicing?

Cheers.
