Windows Picture and Fax Viewer

Posted: 09-30-2003, 09:38 PM
My face is red to have to ask such a dumb question, but
here goes: what is the executable program location that
opens the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer? When I
downloaded new image editing software recently, the
association between the left mouse click and the viewer
was changed, and I get a "Program not Found" window. The
window gives me a chance to browse for the viewer
program, but I can't find it. I know, I know, I can
right click, select "open with" and click on the "Windows
Picture and Fax Viewer," but that is too many clicks for
intensive image viewing. If you can help, I'd be finger-
savingly grateful. Tom

It's not an exe file. But powered by a DLL. You may want to restore the
image file association to XP Pic and Fax viewer. Try this:

Click Start | Run and type:
"REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL"

Windows Picture and Fax Viewer

I currently have a cable modem and until yesterday could
double click email attachments (such as jpegs) from
within the email. Now when it asks me to open or save, I
choose open. The Windows Picture and Fax Viewer comes up
with the message "No preview available". I have to go
back, select Save, save to my hard drive and open from
there. What happened? My cable internet provider says
it is not them. Did some setting change?

Help!
Kerry

When was the last time you emptied your Temporary Internet Files folder ?
In IE, Tools>Internet Options...>General tab>Delete files... button in
center section.
