Windows pointing at wrong Documents and Settings folder

Posted: 04-05-2004, 05:17 PM
After installing Win XP Pro on a PC that previously had
Win XP Home, restoring all the files, Installing Office
2003 to replace the Office 97 copy I had been using
before, and then logging in under the same user id I was
using before the upgrade I discovered that Windows is
pointing at a user folder with name <my userid>.OFFICE.001
in Documents and Settings.

Any ideas how I can get Windows to use the old <my userid>
folder under Documents and Settings instead of the new
one? I have a feeling that doing that will solve some of
the problems I've been experiencing, but will probably
create new ones, like showing programs in the Start Menu
and on the Desktop that I haven't reinstalled yet, but I
think I can fix that. I also know that I could just copy
all the folders and files from the <my userid> folder, but
it just seems strange that I'm logged in as 'my userid',
but all the documents and settings are under <my
userid>.OFFICE.001.
