Windows sound scheme problem... weird one this.

Hi all,

I have a problem where the sound works fine in games/video/DivX etc.
But on setting a sound scheme to play a wav on inbound e-mail for example..
there is no sound triggered.

The wav file plays on the menu.. and via media player - but doesn't play
when it's triggered by the said event. Nothing appears to happen.

Everything else is running fine... apart from sound sheme sounds not
playing.

Any ideas on a solution ?

I've tried the using TweakUI and made sure system beep is enabled.

This doesn't solve the problem.. Beep was turned on with tweak ui anyway.

No sounds at all using sound schemer

Any other ideas ?

I was having the same problems. Tried everything. I followed the directions
on this web site under "sounds are missing" and sure enough it was the wrong
value in the registry key. Deleted it and windows immediately created a new
value which was (no value) and all the sounds are back and work just fine.
