Windows update

Posted: 07-02-2003, 01:15 AM

I just purchased win xp upgrade as I was running 98.
It went fine, My son installed a game. To make a long
story short I had to re format the hard drive and
reinstall everything that went fine, but when I go to the
win update site I am told that no update for my computor
and I know that I didn't update all of the criticle
updates. Any help would be great.
Thank You
Mike

I downloaded the recommended Windows XP Updates via the
web and when I tried to restart my computer it won't
reboot. It continuously reboots over and over on its own
with no results? I've never had any problems booting up in
the past. Any ideas?

Thanks, Ryan

Anyone else run into this: I try to start Windows XP
update, only to come to the screen and be told that I
must have a Windows product to use update. What gives?
I have made no major changes to my system. Any help
appreciated.

I have a new computer with a clean install of Windows XP
Professional. I'm trying to use Windows update but it
gives me a message that there are no updates available
for your computer at this time! No updates have been
installed

I cannot install any WindowsXP updates. I get the
following message:
"Setup cannot verify the integrity of the file Update
..inf. Make sure the Cryptographic service is running on
this computer"

Any thoughts?

Ray;
Reboot, login to an Administrator account.
Double click My Computer.
Double click C drive.
Double click Windows file.
Double click System32 file.
Right click catroot2, click rename, type "catroot2old"
ENTER

When I review my windows update history , it has frequent
repeated entries . I would like to know how to edit my
update installation history and weather the entries
represent more than one down load
