Windows Update site access denied.

Posted: 08-25-2004, 08:45 AM
Hi,

I am running XPe SP1.
Before 3rd/AUG/2004 Microsoft Windows Update site was version 4.
But the web page is changed to version 5. I guess microsoft need to change
the web and apply the new version of SUS for SP2.

But as you know and as I know, XPe do not support XP's SP2 directly.
So I should update the windows by old way.

Is there a way to use windows update site version 4 or other ways ?

one more Q.
I got error when I try to update the windows update s/w via windows update
site, Error code 0x80070078.

Windows Update site access denied.

Hi JS

XPE images cannot be updated via the windows update site.
The technology is unsupported. You need to talk to your
OEM or the person who sold you your XPE Development
software to find how to support your images directly.

Publicly available database updates can be found at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/results.aspx?
sortCriteria=date&OSID=&productID=0E9673E9-22C4-471E-B967-
7E7C17C1B4AE&CategoryID=&freetext=&DisplayLang=en& DisplayE
nglishAlso= but realize that these updates are only for
updating your XPE development environment, not existing
images. (Once your database has been updated with these
packages, any new images you generate will be
automatically patched from the moment they are created.)

Hi Jay..

Basically I am understanding that we can't use "Windows Update" in the XPE.
However, after "Desktop QFE Installer" patch , we can use "Windows Update"
in the
Internet Explorer. Of course some QFEs are installed properly , or the other
do not.
In addition to, we can see "Windows Update" Components in TD and
there is "Automatic Updates" Icon in the contol panel in XPE.

I am a little bit confusing about these so I hope if you are planing to
disable
"Windows Automatic Update" in the XPE , please disable this category
"Tools - Windows Update" in the IE and delete "Windows Update" Components in
TD.

Thanks
