Windows Vista final release question

Posted: 07-31-2006, 10:45 PM
Hello
I would like to know if beta testers of Windows Vista Beta 2 will
receive a complimentary copy of the final release when it becomes available?
I am beta testing the Beta 2 version now and wondered if Microsoft would do
like they did when I beta tested Windows 98 and send out a complimentary copy
of the final release as a thank you for beta testing their product.
Does anyone know?

Thanks!

CPP No way. TBT probably. Who knows? Ya think we do? We're just schlumps
on the street--unwashed and barely able to dress.

Nope, you're just previewing it. At least this is how it looks like when
you're posting this question here.
I'm testing Vista over a year now and even unsure if I will get a FC. But
honestly I don't care and even of I did, it would have been the worse paying
per hour job I ever did.
I got ever more paid when I was 5 years old and washing my neighbours car
:-)
Suggestion is to spent time on a paying job instead of testing for a free
copy. The first is paying much much more per hour :-)

TBT has not been told. I don't think so, though.

I have received T-shirts in the past like the one I got for testing beta MSN
in early 1995 and free Internet access for 6 months or more.

Okay, The cat is out of the bag. All NDA;s (even the fictional ones
contrived on this group), Eula's, and Sopranoesque vows apply once you read
this.

Free Vista Start Button Tatoos (the one that Jim Allchin could change but
Little Stevie Sinofsky couldn't) tatoos complements of MicroVistaSoft if you
agree:

1) That the tats will have at least 6 primary colors
2) That diameter of the tat will be half the size of Lindsay Lohan's fat ass
3) That the tats will be around your belly button, on your forehead and on
the posterior plot of real estate of your choice
4) That you agree they will never be lasered or excised by buzz saw. They
must be permanant.
5) You have the option to chain them to a tat of the next ridiculously named
OS.
6) You agree to appear clear, confident, and connected at least 3/7 days per
week.
7) You take a solemn Sopranoesque oath in a shifty, shady, basement in
Richland, Belleview, or Mt. Olympia, Washington to adhere to the above 6
requirements in blood.

And just what do you mean by contrived, Chad? Your technical stuff is great
but the rest of it stinks.

I understand what you mean now. I forgot about the MVPs, their own groups,
meetings and conferences, etc.. As for those, it serves everyone well that
there should be plenty of them. For the MVPs its really a labor of love,
and all of us are grateful for that kind of talent, what we get from it, and
their having strong input.

As to what stinks, I'm not sure. I guess you meant the assumption that
someone was contrieving an NDA. I apologize that I forgot about the MVPs.

Wouldn't it be nice, if depending on how many VALID bug reports you
raised, there was a sliding scale to purchase a licence key online for the
final Vista, they way active testers (Connect or otherwise), who raise
decent bug reports get rewarded.

Something like 10 Bug Reports = 10% discount
20 Bug Reports = 25% discount
30 Bug Reports = 50% discount
40 Bug Reports = 75% discount
50 or more Bug Reports = Free copy of vista.
