Windows Vista Installation - STOP Error (ACPI)

Posted: 07-03-2006, 12:44 PM
Recently I received my Windows Vista Beta 2 (5384) DVD from Microsoft.
I tried both methods for installing (DVD-boot and from Windows XP).
DVD-boot method gives me an ACPI Compatibility error. I have an ASUS M6N
laptop and there seems to be (from what I have read on the net) a known error
with Windows Vista and this particular laptop.

I'm wondering if this issue is known at Microsoft and what the reason is why
Windows XP works perfectly on this laptop and why Windows Vista doesn't.

With kind regards.

Because Windows Vista drivers work differently than XP drivers. ASUS needs
to write new drivers or possibly a BIOS update for Windows Vista.

Dear Kerry,

I thought I'd let you know. I didn't give up on trying to install a newer
Vista build (5536 / 5600 RC1) on my laptop. And guess what, it works! All of
it! Aero works like a charm and all hardware got installed by default.

So I guess my issue was related to a bug.

Anyway, thank you for you response!

Thanks for the update. Asus or the chipset manufacturer probably submitted
drivers to Microsoft for inclusion in Vista.
