Windows Vista preveinting my partition with XP to connect to inter

Posted: 06-19-2006, 11:58 PM
Hello,
I am having difficulties with my internet connection and I felt that this
would be the best discussion group to find help. I have partitioned my hard
drive into two partitions and have installed Windows XP on one partition, and
Windows Vista on the other. I have Adelphia Cable internet. My partition with
XP used to connect to the internet before I installed Vista but now I am
unable to connect with XP.
Help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
-Tony

Ok.

Let's start in the right place: With your language:

"Partitions" do not connect to the Internet. Internet applications
do, such as browsers, connection managers, email clients, etc.
"Partitions" hold file systems and other user files, they don't handle
internet connections, since they are not programs. Just electronic
marks on your HD.

So your problem is not with your "partitions". It is with your
CONNECTION.

Now, ask yourself these three questions:
First, did you install the modem software necessary to use your
Adelphia connection in Vista?
Second, is your modem software compatible with Vista? (did you
download the latest modem software from the manufacturer of your
modem?)
Third, have you even asked Adelphia Cable if the modem and software
they provided to you are compatible with Vista?

When you do those three things, report back to us with the results.

Hello, and thank you for the response. I was probably not as clear as I
should have been, which I am sorry about. My computer wont connect to the
Internet while I am using my Windows XP OS on partition 1. While I am on my
Windows Vista partition, partition 2, My computer connects normally. The
computer had previously been able to connect with Windows XP before I
installed Vista, but after Windows Vista was installed Windows XP would not
connect and the little light on my Adelphia modem is off. That brings me to
the conclusion that it is not my connection, but in fact Windows Vista turns
off my connection when it is not on.
Thank you again,
Tony
