Windows XP boot proble

in the F8 menu there is an option to do step by step
confirmation. if that doesn't work, try reinstalling the
windows xp software and use the "repair installation"
option. this will not delete and data or programs, it
will just fix corrupt files in the windows xp system..

I have a similar problem.
Screen tells me that there might have been a software or
hardware change.

How do you reinstall xp?

When I boot from a win 98 recovery disk I end up in dos
which when you try to run setup you get "cannot be run in
dos mode"
