Windows XP dropping fixed IP address

Posted: 09-30-2003, 12:41 PM
I have had a problem with two machines runnin XP prof.
One a laptop and the other a desktop. Both are on
different internal networks. They have both dropped the
fixed ip address they had been given and when IPCONFIG is
used the the IP and Subnet address is shown as 0.0.0.0

The laptop restored the IP address on reboot but the
desktop did not.

Has anybody else suffered with this and can anyone
suggest how I can prevent this happening.

regards
