Windows XP Generic Text printer with same config as Win98se

Why can't I get the same output to a Taneum 850xlep100 (8 lines per inch on
8.5*14 paper that I did when the PC ran windows 98 se? Is there an apples
to apples version of the generic text driver for XP?
