Windows XP Home Edition / distinctive ring / multifunction printer

Distinctive ringing is not supported in Windows XP. Please see the following
KB.

You don't have to put any extra modem initialization strings in the modem
options. If the modem manuals specify then only you need to add these
entries. But in mose cases modem initialization strings reside in the inf
file which comes with the modem drivers. When the modem is installed these
strings are persited in the registry so that any application will not have
to read the modem inf files again.
