Windows XP Log in Window Problem

When I go to log on to Windows on my Compaq Laptop the
Log on screen comes up like normal, but my name does not
appear and I have no way of logging onto windows. The
shut down button is still there and otherwise the screen
appears normal, but my log in "button" is gone. I tried
safe mode but ran into the same problem.

Any suggestions?

Hi

did u try pressing ctrl+alt + del and see whether you get the classic login.
use the administrator's login credentials to login.

Yeah, I tried that but when I tried to log in as me it
said it was an invalid domain and when I tried to log in
as the administrator, it said the same thing. It just
refuses to let me log in no matter what.

I'm at a loss!
