WIndows XP Network Drop

Posted: 11-09-2003, 03:33 PM
I have setup a network running Macintosh, Windows 98,
2000, and XP. There is a Dell Poweredge using Windows
2000 Server. Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and WINS is
running on the server. All the machiens are running as
aprt of the same domain.

Now only on the XP machine, the network will disconnect
within 15 to 30 minutes. On the Windows 98, 2000 and
macintosh there is no network disconnect.

open your registry (run: regedit), once in navagate to
adjust the value in: hkey_local
machine_\system\service\lanmanserver\paramaters\au todiscon
nect and to increase the value (fill the field with "f").
This will stop the autodisconnect.
Good Luck, Mike

"f" is the default in XP Pro SP1.

Hey guys,

I made the reg change and the problem still occurs.
I am really banging my head against the wall here. Would
this have anything to do with using a 3Com Hub? Could the
Windows 2000 Sever have anything to do with this?

Thanks for all your help by the way.
