Windows XP not recognising my Sidewinder
Posted: 08-08-2006, 01:07 AM
Well I've Googled for a solution to this until the small hours of th
morning with no success.
I have a "Sidewinder Precision 2" joystick, which I am trying to ge
working on Windows XP Professional. I have had this working a looooon
time ago on Windows XP Home.
Since trying to install on XP Pro, its being a pain in the ass
Basically it detects no problem in Device Manager as a "Sidewinde
Precision 2" with yellow ? So I installed the drivers and that wa
fine. I noticed another unrecognised device in USB Devices, so
checked that and updated the driver there.
I then went on to Control Panel > Game Controllers > Add... > Microsof
SideWinder (Auto Detect), clicked Ok and...nothing. Not a ping. Not
hardware detected balloon. Nothing.
So to sum up
I've installed the drivers for it that came with it. No luck.
I've installed drivers for my usb controllers. No luck.
I've tried to make sure that its not a static build up. No luck.
I've tried it in a different machine to confirm the stick isn't faulty
with working response from other machine.
If anyone could help, it's greatly appreciated. I'm seriously gettin
annoyed at the prospect of having to shell out £40+ which I can'
afford on a new joystick.
Oh and please don't point me to the "Not Connected" error informatio
thats available. I've seen that too many times, and that is NOT m
problem. My stick wont even show up in the Game Controller menu le
alone give me "Not Connected"
Thanks in advanc
