WINDOWS XP: NTFS files sytems changes to RAW filesystem with 0 bytes

Posted: 10-01-2003, 01:46 AM
Hello,

Unable to access a disk in WINDOWS XP
--------------------------------------------

If I click my secondary hard disk, I get the message that "The disk in drive
X is not
formatted. Do you want to format now?".
If I right click the disk and check properties it says file system: RAW with
0 bytes used and 0 bytes free space.

This disk was working fine for few months and the original format was NTFS.

Does anyone know how can I recover the data or how can I fix this problem?
Is this a Windows XP bug?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

It looks like your NTFS became Corrupt somehow. Maybe due to impending
hard drive failure. Type Data Recovery
in a Google window. www.google.com see what comes up. Also, go to the
manufacturers website ( of the hard drive )
and see if they have a diagnostic utility to check the drive.

sounds like you're screwed. Lost and Found has helped me
recover all my files and then a full reformat was
necessary.
