Windows XP Pro Major Bug Problem!!!!

Posted: 11-11-2003, 06:21 AM
Hello, I had some people try to answer my previous
question about the Error message starting up on both
computers I have with Windows XP Professional. The error
states not long after both computers startup
saying, "Shell_NotifyIcon Fail" and it will only allow me
to hit OK on it. They sent me before articles to
download the Critical Update November 2003. I have
download every update in Windows section, including all
the Windows ones as well, and still this problem will not
go away. There is no Knowledgebase Articles on this.
I've not found out that many people are experiencing this
same problem on their computers as well, (they have
called me to tell me) and I've not found any way to fix
this problem whatsoever (besides reformatting and
reloading all software back onto both computers). Has
Microsoft been told that this is highly likely due to a
bug in one of the critical update files possibly? Since
this starting happening not long after I downloaded the
critical updates automatically on both computers. Now
the computers won't run correctly at all, even typing
this message took 45 minutes. Does anyone know of a fix
for this error that is affecting people using Windows
XP? Thank you if you do, send it to me at

Search Google for "Shell_NotifyIcon Fail" and you'll get a number of
hits which provide clues. I don' think this has anything to do with
Microsoft's updates.

If so you have a virus! If not why dont you just
uninstall the update?
