Windows XP Professional x64 Install

Posted: 01-22-2009, 12:43 PM
I'm having an issue with a new copy of Windows XP Professional x64. I set
the install going and took a little nap, came back and the system had booted
to an Administrator login. Well, I didn't set an admin password.. never have
on this machine. Any idea what password it's looking for? Did I miss
something in the install?

For reference, I did have to slipstream some RAID drivers for my MB into the
install and create a new disc. I'm a gamer, and running 2 vid cards with a
gb of memory on each leaves me with only 2gb system ram . Any gamer
knows.. these days, that's just not enough. I get the horrible hitch on
newer games when the system goes out to the page file.

Any ideas on what the default password for the Administrator account is?
I've tried <blank>, Administrator, administrator, Admin, and admin. I've
installed Win XP prof (32bit) a dozen times on a dozen different computers
and have never had this problem.

Thanks in advance

So you could not find -
microsoft.public.windows.64bit.general
or
microsoft.public.windowsxp.setup_deployment ??

Or if you are using the web interface which you appear to be then
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/e...&lang=en&cr=US
or
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/e...&lang=en&cr=US

Either of these by either method of access would be a more appropriate group
for your post.

usually just hitting ENTER or clicking on NEXT does the job.

If you just left it and ended up at an Administrator login, you must have
run an unattended install.

The Administrator password will have been specified in the installation
instructions. Review them to find what it is.

The best newsgroup for questions on x64 XP is
microsoft.public.windows.64bit.general.
