Windows XP and scanning error message Tvich and Aspi

I am so frustrated. I get two errors when trying to scan
Tvichw32 Driver Open Error and Can not load ASPI Layer
Driver. The printer works fine but the scanning gets
these two messages...I can scan once or twice and then it
won't work.

I had a xerox printer which I just replaced with the HP
because I thought it was the printer being 4 years
old...now I get the same messages. I think it must be a
Windows XP problem but when I uninstall and reinstall the
software it doesn't help.

I have tried to communicate with Dell before I got this
printer and they just tell me to reinstall drivers which
doesn't work. I emailed HP and they reply but don't
address the problem. Please, someone, help me. Virginia
