WINDOWS XP UPGRADE ERROR

I would be very grateful if you could help me solve this
problem with my Windows XP Upgrade. I had some error
messages recently one of which was that Windows have to
shut down to avoid a fatal damage to my coputer. I had a
few other error messages and was promted to insert the
Windows XP CD, but I was able to recover the system. I did
a complete recovery (format the hard drive) to the original
operative system-Windows ME, and tried to upgrade to XP,
but the process stopped on the third step of the
Installation, (preparing installation) and shut down the
computer. The error message was " Magisol has caused an
error in KERNEL32.DLL. Also I had this message "Migration
DLL.C:windows\setup\temp\dll0006\migrate.dll" threw an
exception in INITIALIZE9X: The DLL will not be processed. I
will be very grateful if you could help fix this problem
and tell me how to avoid it in the future. Thanks. KD.
