Windows XP will not load photos

digital camera ,and a SanDisk ImageMate USB 2.0 card
reader(XD) . Windows will not load my photos , gives me
a "no camera or scanner detected" message when using
camera and scanner wizard . I have tried the camera on 2
other computers and it works just fine plus my LogiTech
webcam works on my my computer . The Olympus camera and
the card reader both state they are XP compatible and
are "plug and play" on XP.I have tried to uninstall the
drivers and reinstalling them but nothing changes . I do
get the "safely remove hardware "icon in my taskbar but
that's it. I am at a loss what to do about this and can't
think of anything else to do. I've made sure I had
installed the latest driver updates also plus the checked
the Device Manager and it states all devices are working
properly. Please help!
