Winload.exe FIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - For me anyway

Posted: 06-16-2006, 12:53 AM
Alright people...I had this problem like everyone else...and figured out what
it was, and when i changed it....Vista didnt display that stupid Winload.exe
corrupt error again.
I have 4-5 drives in my computer, I have XP installed on my main drive and
Vista on a secondary drive.
Now what you need to do is in your bios...make sure you have BOTH hard
drives (that you installed on) autodetecting when the computer starts up,
otherwise it will come up with the error about winload.exe being corrupt, etc.
Please let me know if this works, as this worked for myself...I only had the
MAIN xp drive listed previously..and when I had the other one listed in the
bios, it then started working perfectly.

Tried going into my bios and the hard drive is detected. This is a new
system specifically built to test vista, so there is only 1 hard drive. Bios
is detecting it but i am getting this error. any ideas?

Unfortunately I dont have any other ideas at the moment, as I have only
tested this on a machine with multiple hard drives.
Although the drive was specificly for Vista, possibly make sure its the
master driver, jumper wise?

If your hard drive enclosure is connected via USB, then you can't use it for
installing Vista. Vista cannot boot from a USB device, even if your BIOS
allows it.

oh man that sucks so bad! apparently there is a large demand for booting off
usb considering the number of people that i realized are having this problem.
i opened up the computer and put the hd inside, then it worked just fine.
thanks
