WinXP never completes installition

i installed it again (dont know why) i tried isntalling
direct x9a and it downloads the content and never finshes
installition, i tried installing smart ftp it starts it
gets more than half way through and it stops never
finishes i tried to update winxp on the update site same
thing it it downloads the stuff but never does the
installition
