I only found it to be necessary for Word and Excel. The others did not seem
to present a problem

Excel Switches

/regserver Forces Microsoft Excel to register itself and then quit.
Use this switch when you want Microsoft Excel 97 to
rewrite all of its registry keys and reassociate itself
with Microsoft Excel files, such as workbooks, charts,
and add-ins.

Example: /regserver

/unregserver Forces Microsoft Excel to unregister itself and then
quit.

Example: /unregserver

I have used it to fix a variety of external problems with excel and word,
usually files not opening properly document types wrongly assigned etc, I
was always told to do a /unregserver first to clear any setting then run
/regserver.
