WinXP SP2 Fails to install

WinXP Home Edition
Due to all the current flurry with IE Security problems I decided to bite
the bullet and update to SP2. Unfortunately after downloading 1.6Mb it
failed giving me the message: 'Updates were unable to be successfully
installed'.
Any ideas?
