OK here goes.... I have WindowsXp home. When it was in
stalled everything worked but my scanner. So I purchased
a new HPpsc1210 All in one(scanner and printer) I can NOT
get it to install! When I first try to install it says I
have no usb ports. When I uninstal the Usb ports then
serch for them the computer finds them then the install
starts but it gets as far as plugging them in and nothing
happens!! I am pulling my hair out! I called HP and the
guy there was pulling his hair out to. Checked BIOS
working fine. So he said it must be a windows xp problem
the scanner I had was xp compatable and so it this new
one. I hope someone can help me here. It would be greatly
appreciated.Thanks so much!

I had a similar problem with a PSC 950 a couple of years
ago on a machine running Windows ME. Problem was HP's
install software thought the printer was already
installed and wouldn't start the install again. At that
time I couldn't find the system restore program (I now
know where to find it) and had to manually edit the
register to remove all references to the HP drivers and
software. If you have a system restore point prior to
trying to install the printer you might try restoring to
that, and then running the install program again.
