WireFire question

Posted: 10-27-2005, 05:03 PM
I am confused about using my Wirefire connection.

I have a 1394 port on my Laptop. The only thing my camera has is a USB
port, is there a special cable (USB>WF) that I need to get or is this not
going to be any faster than just using the USB port?

Thanks in advance

Monte

1st thing is that it is a FireWire Question. :-)

I have not heard of a USB>FW adapter, but that doesn't mean much. My guess
is that it will not do much good...your camera is still going to send USB.

If your camera is USB2 (I hope it is for video sending sake) then you can
get a USB2 card for your laptop, if your laptop's USB ports are not USB2.

Hope that helps...if not, others should be jumping in at anytime!

You are right in that you cannot get a usb>firewire lead, the two are
totally different.
Is this a camera or camcorder?
Either way if it is designed to be used with USB it more than likely writes
mpeg files, which usb2 can cope with.
