Wireless keeps disconnecting

Posted: 09-23-2006, 02:42 AM
I am running 5600 RC1 on 32 bit. I have a linksys wireless NIC connecting
through a linksys wireless router using 128 bit WEP (using broadcom 802.11g
driver) and it keeps dropping the network connction. After a reboot the
connection comes up fine and works without issue for some time but at some
point it starts dropping connection, reconnecting, aquiring an IP
successfully, and then disconnecting again. It'll continue to do this until
I reboot. I've noticed others have been seeing this issue as well but I have
seen no resolutions.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

1. Do you have the latest firmware on the router?

2. Can you provide the model number and version of the router so that we can
check the compatibility of it?

Thanks.

I am running a Linksys WRT54G v5 Wireless-G Broadband Router. I was not
running the latest firmware. I had 1.00.2 and the latest is .9. I have
downloaded it and will update it now. I'll let you know how that goes.

Thanks.

I updated the router with the latest firmware but my connection is still
getting dropped periodically.

I can report this to a group looking at similar issues. Thanks.

I am the Linksys WMP54G PCI network adapter using 128 WEP and experincing the
same disconnect problem using the Broadcom 802.11g driver. This was not an
issue with Vista Beta 2, but was a problem with RC1 and now RC2. The device
works perfectly with XP.

Any help with this would be great!

Thanks,

ES

I am having the same disconnect issue using the Linksys WMP45G PCI adapter
(WEP 128 bit) with the broadcom 802.11g driver. The adapter worked in Vista
Beta 2, but shuts down in RC1 and now RC2.

Any help would be great.

Thanks,

ES

Note: Works perfect in XP.

J.P.,
Ditto on my Dell Latitude D620 with Dell 1390 wireless (Broadcom 802.11g).
RC1 and RC2. Using built in drivers. Everything works better if I go get
Dell's XP drivers, but I lose a little function, specifically WiFi fails to
work after a resume.
